Multiplication and Division of Positive and Negative Integers:

Rules for Multiplying Integers:

when you multiply two integers with the same signs, the result is always positive. Just multiply the absolute values and make the answer positive. The product of a positive integer and a negative integer is negative. (If the signs are different, the answer is negative. If the signs area alike, the answer is positive).

                                                              2 x -3 = -6

                                                             -2 x 3 = -6

                                                             -8 x -2 = 16

                                                              8 x 2 = 16  

                       

Rule of dividing integers:

when you divide two integers with the same signs, the result is always positive. Just divide the absolute values and make the answer positive. When you divide two integers with different signs, the result is always negative. Just divide the absolute values and make the answer negative.

                                                                   -8 / 2 = -4

                                                                    8 /-2 = -4

                                                                   -6 /-3 = 2

                                                                    6 / 3 = 2
