What is a factor ?
A factor is a number that divides into another number exactly and without leaving any remainder.
Example: 2 x 5 = 10 therefore, 2 and 5 are the factors of 10
20 / 5 = 4, and there is no remainder. So we can say that 5 and 4 are the factors of 20
- A prime number has only two factors - 1 and the number itself.
- The number 1 is the smallest factor of every number.
- every number will have a minimum of two factors, 1 and the number itself
Prime factorization:
When we write a number as a product of all its prime factors, it is called prime factorization.
